On July 5th, Jessica Doty-Whitaker, a home health care nurse in the Indianapolis Indiana area, was shot and killed after a group she was in got into an argument with another group about Black Lives Matter. She leaves behind a fiancé and 3-year-old son.
This is the account of this this murder from Fox 59 in Indianapolis:
“She shouldn’t have lost her life. She’s got a 3-year-old son she loved dearly,” said her fiance Jose Ramirez.
According to Ramirez, he and the victim and two other people were hanging out along the canal when someone in their group used a slang version of the N-word.
That word prompted a confrontation by a group of strangers.
During a brief argument, Ramirez claims the suspect’s group shouted Black Lives Matter and either Whitaker or someone in her group replied that All Lives Matter.
Eventually the two sides separated because they realized they were both armed. The groups then fist bumped and walked away from each other.
However, minutes later Ramirez claims the killer opened fire from a nearby bridge and ran away.
“It was squashed and they went up the hill and left we thought, but they were sitting on St. Clair waiting for us to come under the bridge and that’s when she got shot,” said the victim’s fiancé Jose Ramirez.”
Her Facebook page has been inundated with BLM supporters saying they are glad she is dead and she got what she deserved. Here are a few examples reported by the Dailymail.co.uk :
“’I can’t feel bad for a racist who used a racial slur. Now you’ll have plenty of time to think about your horrible actions,’ one woman wrote.
Another man added: ‘Black lives matter. The rest of you are next.’
That comment was followed by a man who wrote: ‘Can’t feel bad for you when you used a racial slur and acted a f**king fool’ and a woman who shared a sarcastic crying emoji with the words: ‘Oh I’m sorry, did someone get what they f**king deserved?’ “
Up this point no one in her party or the other party has come forward to confirm who said the N-word and in what context it was used. The only confirmations we have so far are from her party that she said “All lives matter” in response to “Black lives matter”. But even if she had said the N-word, have we stooped so low as a society to say that racial slurs are deserving of death? Really?
I have always taught my children from the time they were little that the N-word is a bad word that you should never use.
However, the use of this word does not and cannot ever justify murder.
But when we have college professors like Lisa Feldman Barrett teaching foolish concepts like “certain types of speech — can be a form of violence” what else would we expect than for our leftist friends to feel that they have the right to react with actual violence to speech they find hurtful?
